SAVVY SAVINGS: Kid's Clothing

So I'm walking through Target the other day and as I'm trying to maneuver around two (clueless) moms lollygagging around in their designer heels pushing their high-end strollers, I hear the one say to the other as she held up an adorable polka dot dress; "Tell me this isn't cute?" "Oh my gosh, suuu -per cute!" "See, Target has cute stuff riiiiiight ??" I'm thinking...Duh, where have you been?? Continuing on... "For sure. BUT it's Target ya know!?" "I know. So get this - I found the most fabulous deal the other day for Kylie. A pink zip up Juicy jacket for $70! A- mazing !!" Time-out...$70 for one kid's item?? I don't care if it's Juicy Couture, that insane. And downright ridiculous to drop that much cash on clothing that kids are going to wear a handful of times and outgrow before you know it. C'mon . The topic of kid's clothing is such a hot button for me. Maybe money isn't an issue for th...

SWEET SUNDAY

I'm not a big chocoholic but these are damn tasty! Thanks to Dave's buddy, Ben, we were introduced to these 'can't eat just one' chocolate marshmallow cookies a few years ago. His wife Shannon was kind enough to steal Ben's secret recipe out of his recipe box - thanks girlfriend! ;) My favorite part is biting into the warm chewy marshmallow. Mm- mmm -good! ~CHOCOLATE MARSHMALLOW COOKIES~ Ingredients: 3 cups all-purpose flour 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 cup light brown sugar, packed 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter, softened 2 large eggs 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract 2 cups (12 ounces) mini semisweet chocolate chips 8 oz. mini marshmallows, frozen Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Until you are to ready to assemble the cookies just prior to baking, keep the marshmallows in the freezer - otherwise they will thaw too rapidly. 2. In medium bowl combine flour, cocoa, and baking soda. Set aside. 3. Combine sugars in a large bowl. Using an e...

FANCY FRIDAY

TGIF friends!!! Lately I've been slightly stressing...ok who am I kidding... majorly stressing over the fact that I will have a another baby in 36 days. (Who's counting right??) It's not so much the baby that's wiggin' me out. It's the fact that we've done nothing, absolutely nothing, to prepare for this baby. Granted it's another boy and I have 95% of the stuff (somewhere in the rafters of the garage) but this 'wait until the last minute' crap goes against every part of my being. I am a planner. I like certainty. As it stands now, Dave's office is Lance's bedroom. You'd think that would be an easy fix but since my husband works from home, it's slightly more complicated. The extent of 'planning' and preparing for Lance has been a rough sketch of the decorating visions I had on the back of my to-do list. That Chase later threw away. Last week as we discussed the slow moving plans of the office addition (that will start rig...

Not into Self-Tanner? Try BRONZING POWDER

I recently blogged about the best steep to cheap self tanners . Following the post, a reader ask - But what about bronzers ?? Bronzer sometimes gets a bad rap for looking fake (Thanks Snooki !) but when applied correctly and in a shade that's right for you, it can do all sorts of wonderful things. For starters it, slims your face. I don't know about you but that in itself is enough to make me want to buy stock in bronzing powder! New York City makeup artist Kimara Ahnert suggests dusting a powder bronzer below your cheekbones and sweeping it up toward your ears to make our jawline look trim. In addition to slimming, it also hides flaws. As I've gotten older, my skin has decided to do some whacky things. I recently walked out of the Dermatologist's office with a facial condition called Melasma , a very common patchy brown, tan or blue/grey skin discoloration that flairs up significantly when exposed to natural sunlight. Fortunately bronzers do a fantastic job maski...

TIME & MONEY saving gadget

Ever wish you could compare an in-store item price with an online one to see which is cheaper? Or better yet - interested in what other's are saying about the product before purchasing? I know I have. Just last week in fact. After buying far too many toys that never get played with or fall apart, I've learned my lesson; check the reviews of what other mom's are saying before buying. MUST HAVE CLEANING PRODUCT

Piggybacking on yesterday's SPEED CLEANING post, I thought it would be fitting to give you a little help in the product department. Standing in the cleaning product aisle can be intimidating. They all claim to do the same thing - so how do you know which one actually works!?!? Like I said yesterday, there are only a handful of products you need to clean your entire house; multi-purpose cleaner or glass cleaner, Clorox bleach or powdered abrasive cleaner, tile cleaner, disinfectant wipes or a Lysol disinfecting spray and vinegar. What I forgot to mention is that WINDEX should never be the cleaning bucket. Personally I believe that Windex might be the worst product on the market. It's too watery, leaves awful streaks and takes far too much time to wipe up slowing down the speed cleaning routine tremendously. So you ask - what do I use on mirrors and windows then? The answer and your cleaning lifesaver - SPRAYWAY GLASS CLEANER!! Every household should have this product. I would ...
